Estonian Fabric User Group

Code of conduct

Meetups are for everyone who works with Microsoft Fabric or wants to: from beginner to architect, from any company and background. To keep it that way, a few simple rules apply at our events, on this website and in our channels.

For attendees

  • Be friendly and respectful. Disagreeing on the topic is welcome; attacking the person is not.
  • Harassment, insults and discrimination are not allowed: not in words, images or actions, not in the room and not online.
  • Harassment includes unwanted touching, sexual remarks or images, stalking, intimidation, and photographing someone who has asked not to be photographed. Discrimination means treating someone worse because of gender, age, ethnicity, language, disability, religion, sexual orientation or any other personal characteristic.
  • Listen to the speaker. Questions are welcome, heckling is not.
  • Do not use a meetup for selling or recruiting. A business card is fine, a sales pitch is not.
  • If someone asks you to stop, stop.

For speakers

  • Talk about your experience, not your product's price list. A story that says what it cost and what did not work is the best talk.
  • One slide introducing your company is allowed. No more.
  • Slides and the recording are published after the meetup only with your consent.

For partners and hosts

We follow the rules of Microsoft's user group program, which forbid using the community for lead generation.

  • A host's introduction is at most five minutes and one slide.
  • The attendee list is never shared with any partner; the organising partner, Sparkle Solutions, handles registrations only to run the event. Partners do not collect contacts at a meetup or scan badges.
  • The community's channels carry no partner advertising, discount codes or price lists.
  • Partners do not contact attendees in the community's name.

For organisers

Members of the core committee do not use the community for their own, their employer's or their colleagues' business interests, or for lead generation. Speakers are chosen on content and come from different companies; no company dominates a community meetup. When a partner organises an event itself and invites the community, the event page says so.

If something happens

If anyone is in danger, call 112.

Talk to an organiser on the spot or write to info@fabricusergroup.ee. Every report is looked into and not passed on without your consent. An organiser may warn someone who breaks the rules, ask them to leave the event, and exclude them from future events and the community's channels.

If you would rather not talk to an organiser, or the issue is not resolved, you can contact Microsoft's Fabric user group program team directly at ms-data@microsoft.com or Microsoft's Business Conduct Hotline at buscond@microsoft.com.
